Un tema relevante para los productores en invernadero es la luz, ya que las plantas no crecerán sin ella. Queremos aprovechar tanto como sea posible la luz de sol que entra al invernadero. Sin embargo, demasiada luz puede causar daños al cultivo, por esto muchos productores usan agentes de sombreo en su invernadero.
Para prevenir daños en el cultivo, podemos rociar un agente de sombreo sobre el techo del invernadero para reducir la intensidad de la luz. Los productos utilizados tradicionalmente eran fórmulas en polvo que se fijaban al invernadero. Recientemente se han desarrollado compuestos líquidos haciendo la aplicación y eliminación de los mismos mucho más sencilla.
